One week to go…off to Florida!

That 10 hour drive always seems _really_ looooong…the best part about driving though, is that I can just throw piles of my ‘stuff’ into plastic bins, load it into the SUV, and drive down the road…with 4 times more than I really need…but who cares ๐Ÿ™‚

Considering that the Ironman for me has been around a 13 hour experience, the enormity of the task always strikes meย on the drive…particularly on the drive back

…how is it possible for a human to propel themselves by swimming 2.4 miles, biking 112 miles, and then running 26.2 miles…for 13 hours?

…but 1 week from today that’s exactly what we set out to do…

…absolutely amazing ๐Ÿ™‚

    Hey Steve and Lisa ~

Hope both of you have a great time – I mean you enjoy your fitness and all the chaos that goes with Ironman. Have fun – you know – that strange sort of athletic fun.

Wow, I just read about the Cervelo – great customer service. Glad you didn’t have to pick up the K-Mart (or was that Wal-Mart?) bike. I’m pretty sure some of “it” is about the bike.

    Soak up the experience ~

Gale, thanks soooo much for your help along the way…for 6 years now ๐Ÿ™‚

…can you believe that this is Ironman #5?…too funny

I do have a tandem bike that doesn’t get much action, so as my mind was spinning in directions of what to ride for Ironman, I was thinking maybe ride the tandem bike solo for some type of ’cause’ with the back seat empty representing ‘something’…didn’t have the time to settle on the ‘something’ since the new bike showed up so quickly

…ah, the twisted mind of an Ironman athlete ๐Ÿ™‚

        Steve ~

Glad to help. Our discussions about the art of triathlon is great fun. I think we both get good things out of your Ironman challenges.

…no, I can’t believe it’s number 5. You are a model athlete for all those thinking that they didn’t learn to swim as a kid, so Ironman is out. Pfffft!

I like the tandem idea. You’ll dream up a good cause.

        Cheers ~

    • Daughter says:

Hi Gale – thanks for the well wishes, I am definitely already soaking up the experience as I sit here enjoying breakfast with a view of the Gulf ๐Ÿ™‚ Let’s just hope this weather sticks for race day!

Hmm.. maybe now I’ll flip to your Race Prep chapter to see what I should be doing this week ๐Ÿ™‚

You are too funny. Just-in-time training and preparation.

I love that you and your dad are so different, yet both successful. Good lessons there ~
